Accident Insurance in St. Petersburg

Breaking a wrist or twisting a knee often means paying a big share of the bill yourself before your health plan steps in. Accident insurance sends you a fixed cash payment for covered injuries. We help you find one with a premium that fits the way you live and work.

What accident insurance does

This is an add-on to your main coverage, not a stand-in for it. Each policy lists a dollar figure for specific injuries, such as a fracture, an ambulance ride or a night in the hospital. After a covered injury, the carrier pays that amount to you rather than to the doctor. You decide where it goes: your deductible, your rent or gas for follow-up visits.

It makes the most sense next to a health plan with a high deductible. If your health plan makes you pay the first few thousand dollars, an accident plan can cover a good part of that gap. If your health plan already has low out-of-pocket costs, the math is different, and we will tell you so.

We look at it over years, not one month. A small premium paid for five years adds up. We put that total next to what the plan would actually pay for the injuries you are most likely to have, so you can see if it earns its keep.

What we cover when we talk

What your health plan leaves you paying
First we learn how much you pay on your own before your health plan starts paying. That number tells us how much accident coverage is worth buying.
Plans from more than one carrier
As an independent insurance agency, we aren't bound to any one company. That lets us put benefit schedules and premiums from several carriers next to each other, so you compare real choices instead of hearing one pitch.
Benefit lists in plain words
Every plan lists what it pays for each type of injury. We read through it with you line by line, so you know what a dislocation, stitches or a hospital stay would pay before you sign up.
Off-the-job or around the clock
Some plans only cover injuries away from work, and others cover you on the job as well. We explain which fits your work and whether workers' comp already covers you during work hours.
You alone or your whole family
If your kids play sports or your family bikes, covering everyone can change the value. We price it both ways and you pick.

When an accident plan makes sense

  • Big bills before your plan pays

If paying your full deductible next week would wipe out your checking account, a cash benefit can take some of that weight off.

  • You or your kids are active

Youth sports, beach days, skateboards and bike commutes mean more sprains and breaks. More chances of a claim make the premium easier to justify.

  • Missing work would hurt

An injury can mean days off without pay. Accident benefits are paid to you, so you can use them to cover bills while you heal.

  • Your job is physical

If you lift, climb or drive for a living, ask us how a plan treats injuries on the job versus off it.

  • You have little in savings

A plan with a modest premium can be a steadier bet than hoping nothing happens this year.

What sets the price

Accident coverage usually costs less than major medical, but plan prices still differ quite a bit. Our consultation is free, since the carrier you choose pays us instead of you. These are the things that move the price.

How much each injury pays

Larger payouts per injury mean a larger premium. We help match the benefit to your actual deductible so you don't overbuy.

Who is covered

One adult is the cheapest to cover. Each spouse or child you add raises the premium, and that extra cost often pays off when several family members play sports or ride bikes.

On-the-job coverage

Plans that cover you at work cost more than plans that only cover injuries off the job. If workers' comp already protects you at work, you may not need it.

Add-on riders

Some carriers offer extras such as hospital stay or accidental death benefits. Each one adds to the price, so we only mention the ones that fit you.

How it works when you call

  1. 1

    A short first call

You call, and we ask a few questions about your current coverage, your work and who you want covered. It takes a few minutes.

  2. 2

    We pull plan options

We gather accident plans from several carriers and line them up by premium and benefit amounts. You can meet with us at our office, by phone or over video.

  3. 3

    We run the long-term math

For each option we show what you would pay over a few years and what common injuries would pay back. That keeps the choice grounded in real numbers.

  4. 4

You decide and we enroll you

If a plan fits, we handle the enrollment paperwork with you. If none fit, you walk away owing nothing.

Common questions about accident plans

Can accident insurance take the place of my health plan?

It can't. The carrier pays a fixed amount after a covered injury, and that is the whole job. Illness, checkups and ongoing care fall outside it. Pair it with major medical coverage, such as a plan from our ACA Marketplace Plans or Individual Health Insurance pages, and keep that coverage active.

Is the benefit paid to me or to the provider?

With most plans, the check comes to you. How you spend it is your call. Plenty of clients use it to cover their deductible or keep up with bills during time off work.

Do I need a health exam to qualify?

Most accident plans do not ask for a medical exam. Questions are usually short. We will tell you what each carrier asks before you apply.

Is it worth it if I rarely get hurt?

Maybe not. If your health plan has a low deductible and you are not very active, the premium may outweigh the likely payout over time. We will show you the numbers and give you a straight answer.

Can I sign up any time of year?

Accident plans are often available outside open enrollment, unlike most major medical plans. Rules vary by carrier, so we check that for you on the call.
